PETER PREMENKO

Per John Wilson: I was the brother-in-law of John Premenko, who was killed in Viet Nam in August 1970. His brother Peter was a member of our class and joined the Coast Guard and was killed off the coast of North Korea in either 1967-68. The coast guard was doing some of those secret missions off North Korea, and, if you remember, one of those vessels was captured by the North Korean military. He was not part of that mission, but there was a skirmish along that time frame where he was killed by ememy action or lost at sea. Sad times for the Premenko family.

Eulogy for a Veteran

Do not stand at my grave and weep. I am not there, I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow. I am the diamond glints on snow. I am the sunlight on ripened grain. I am the Gentle autumn rain. When you awaken in the mornings hush, I am the swift uplifting rush of quiet birds in circled flight, I am the soft stars that shine at night. Do not stand at my grave and cry, I am not there, I did not die.
