TERRA NOVA CLASS OF 65
40-YEAR REUNION
SATURDAY, AUGUST 20, 2005
PICNIC * DINNER/DANCE * SOUVENIR PHOTO CD
We can now officially pronounce the 40th year reunion, "A Night for Remembering", a major success! Approximately 80 people attended the event at the San Mateo Marriott Hotel and had a wonderful time. There were a lot of initial glances at nametags to determine "who IS that person", followed by hugs and handshakes and reminiscing. Photos of kids and grandkids were liberally passed around as we all caught up on each other's lives.
Our banquet room looked wonderful. Linda (Robinson) Patterson prepared flower arrangements in small vases for each table, set atop a mirror centerpiece with glowing candles. She copied old editions of our school newspaper, "Tiger Tales", as table favors, tying them up with black and gold ribbons. Susan Harrison prepared a gorgeous tiger head which was placed on the mirror over the mantel surrounded by "TNT '65". Susan also prepared the display board for the vacation raffle. The hotel staff did a very nice job with the table settings, and the room was large enough to comfortably space the tables set for 8 and still have a decent size dance floor. Even the meals were actually excellent and served flawlessly.
Entertainment for the evening included a photo CD show prepared by Alice (Fadenrecht) Hand, highlighting events of 1965 and showing some more or less current photos of some of the class members. Vice Principal George Hinkle (age 84!) favored us with a couple of tap dances to show he still has the moves. He was also seen dancing with as many women as he could to the wonderful after dinner music provided by DJ Ray Lenci. The raffle of a week's vacation at a timeshare (donated by Ed & Susan Harrison) was won by Jeannine Janson. Many people stayed and danced and talked until the hotel staff nudged us out around 11:45.
The picnic in the afternoon was also great. We took over a little neighborhood park in Foster City, thanks to nearby resident Clark Beckstead. Clark also provided a BBQ, hamburgers and condiments, and boat rides through the canal. The park was wonderful, having lots of grass and a little sandy beach and lagoon. Food and friendship abounded, as well as a minor bocce ball tournament dominated by Alice (Fadenrecht) Hand and husband Bill until they were upset by Bob English and partner Heidi (Rigoni) Senger.
For those of you who could not attend either event - we missed you!!!
We will be posting some of the reunion photos on the website as they trickle in. However, if you would like to purchase the CD shown at the reunion which will also include the reunion photos, send $5 and your mailing address to Jean Barnhart. They will probably be ready for mailing by mid-September, depending on the quantity and quality of reunion photos.
Thanks again to the reunion committee for putting together a memorable event.
